Youth Ministries

Submerged Ministry

The mission of the Submerged Ministry is to celebrate Christ and experience the radical nature of Jesus, while creating an environment where youth can experience relevant teaching and preaching that confronts unseemly values by offering Christ-centered values, leading to respectful Christian growth.  The newly named ministry held its kick-off celebration each Wednesday in January 2013.

Bro. Paul Evans serves as the Minister to Youth and Young Adults.

Young People's and Children's Division (YPD)

The YPD under the leadership of the Women's Missionary Society provides meaningful youth training programs and opportunities for leadership experience in all areas of church life. By providing training in Evangelism, Christian Social Relations, and Education programs the YPD is designed to connect youth more fully to the mission of the church and increase knowledge of the African Methodist Episcopal Church history and the scriptures.  Youth aged 2 to 26 comprise this ministry.

Members of the local YPD also participate at all levels of the Connectional YPD - area, conference, episcopal, and connectional.

Sis. Chandelle Ivy serves as the local YPD Director and Sis. Kenya Reese serves as the local YPD President.

Debutante Ministry

Since its inception in the 1950s with Sis. Dewana Horton as its organizer, the Debutante Ministry has trained and prepared young ladies in high school and middle school.  The ministry hosts educational and etiquette workshops and presents the young ladies at an annual ball in June.

Sis. Dorothy Weathers serves as the ministry leader.

Boys to Gentlemen

The Boys to Gentlemen Mentoring Program sponsored by the Sons of Allen Ministry develops the well-being of boys and young men through various workshops, while challenging them to live life to its fullest potential – to see their lives as God sees it – beloved, blessed, called.
